I started my career in 1993 as the founding director of the Japan office of an American foundation dedicated to the development of children and youth in developing countries. Through that job, I was active in the non-profit sector in Japan, which was transformed after the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake. As the New Millennium began, I started working in the New York headquarters of UNFPA and then UNICEF, to promote women and children’s health and rights. With the birth of my own child, I returned to the non-profit sector, working as a consultant in advocacy and resource mobilization, mainly in the global health field, primarily in HIV/AIDS and HIV vaccine development. Providing a range of services including translation and interpretation, my goal is to be of assistance to non-profits dedicated to solving the world’s problems on both sides of the Pacific.

Born in Tokyo, I spent my middle school years in the Philippines, and high school in the suburbs of Washington, DC. Since then, I have been back and forth between Japan and the U.S., currently living in the suburbs of New York. I enjoy watching sports, including soccer and football, but my true love is baseball, having been heavily influenced by my husband, who is a die-hard Red Sox fan. I am also working to get better in shodo, traditional Japanese calligraphy, which I started to learn more recently.
